Things are getting better and better this AW22 season! Baracuta is teaming up with one of the world's most important Japanese designers, Junya Watanabe. Watanabe is known around the world for his avant-garde style, especially for his exploration of new cutting-edge concepts, his way of finding unique fabrics and his advanced methods, he can make anything completely fascinating. Baracuta is famously known to be a very openminded brand, holding values such as inclusivity, diversity, and a deep passion for creativity, teaming up with Watanabe absolutely reflects this. Focusing on techno fashion couture, this partnership holds a true limited-edition collectable. Junya’s years of experience, ability to interpret anything, and his remarkable craftsmanship are what has made this project with Baracuta's icon the G9 Harrington Jacket a total success.

Baracuta’s G9 Jacket is one of the world’s most renown jackets, with its iconic silhouette everyone has since copied, it is a true piece of history. The two brands have come together to create a unique version of Baracuta’s G9 Harrington Jacket. With very limited pieces, it’s said the jacket is going to be in high demand. 

Baracuta’s signature jacket has been deconstructed in every way and then reassembled following latest trends of luxury fashion using different fabrics and techniques. The collector’s item also stands out from the original G9 Harrington Jacket with its silhouette and texture. It doesn’t stop there, even the fit has been changed! For this project, Watanabe envisioned an oversized G9 shape and after getting down to business, he created just that. It’s a totally new approach to British heritage through a highly innovative design aesthetic. 

Not to fret, even though the jacket has been given a unique makeover, many of Baracuta’s signature features are still there; like the umbrella back yoke, classic two-button dog ear collar, raglan sleeves for extra movement, the iconic slanted pockets, and the internal pocket. There is one characteristic that is the same but different and it’s our signature Fraser Tartan lining. It’s still there, however it has also been deconstructed just like the outer body of the jacket and re-tailored using two tartan prints, our Fraser Tartan, and a unique punk-style tartan print, making this piece truly one of a kind. The juxtaposition of the signature Fraser Tartan and the tartan developed for this collaboration allow both patterns to effortlessly coexist together.
